Here's
our update: Did mom cry on her first day of
Kindergarten? The answer is -YES! I was doing
okay until I saw another mother start to cry as
she was leaving, and then that was all I needed to
"put this mom over the edge." I held those tears back
until I no longer had that little girl at my side. I cried the
entire way home. But, we survived. When I picked
her up, she was in "all her glory". She had a million
stories to tell. So, mom was now at ease.

Although, she caught a virus the first week. Other
than a small fever and an upset stomach, we were well
on our way to week two. Wow! She seems so much
older! It is amazing how fast she "grew up" in
two weeks!

Here is a sweet little song that she has been singing the
past few weeks:

In my new fancy clothes and pair of shoes, I'm on my
way to school. So, I'm just starting Kindergarten,
I'm nobody's fool!

Goin' learn reading, writing, and arithmetic, and words
won't make me squirm. And you can quote me, "They'll
promote me twice in every term!"

In every subject I will pass, with letters from A to Z, and
I'll show every kid in class that I come from a real smart
famliy.

So, off to the classroom to meet new friends and stay with
them 'till noon. So, I'm just starting Kindergarten, I'll be
graduating soon!

(author unknown)

Deborah
www.choosemiabella.com

What if?

What if, what if, what if? I have a BIG "what if" in my life right
now! It is the "what if" of Kindergarten. Kindergarten seems
like a simple word, but to me, it is the largest word
in the entire world. No, don't worry, I'm not going to
Kindergarten, but my "baby" is headed there in 6 days.

I have so many thoughts. Tonight, I sit in a quiet house as
everyone is asleep, but me. My mind is racing back to
the day she was born. I then thought of that first step,
that first tooth, that first word (no it was not "mama",
it was "da da"). Where have these 5 years gone?

I have seen my baby grow from a helpless infant to
a very intelligent and hard working 5 year old.
She is capable of doing so many more things for
herself now, but why is it that mommy is really
struggling with the fact of her going to school? I guess
I see a "book" closing and a brand new one opening.
As a mom, I want to have my kids with me at all times,
but I guess that is not possible, is it?

Life is full of changes. Many are easy, yet some are so
hard. I think of my girl going to school and my mind
is full of "what ifs". What if she gets sick at school?
What if she cannot open her supplies by herself?
What if she feels lonley without us? What if, what
if, what if!

She is a very mature 5 year old, so I am sure she
will be fine. It is mom I am worried about. I
have already told myself that I will not cry in front
of her (wonder if that will last??), but I cannot help
but think the tears will fall as I walk away from that
K5 classroom, leaving my child in the care of a very
responsible person........but how I will miss her!!

What is it about us that makes us wonder "what
if"? I was just thinking the other day how happy
I am with my home based business! What if I
had not decided to do this? What if I had not taken
the time to do my best at it or anything else in life?
What if, what if, what if?

Okay...Kindergarten may see simple, but to me it is
my greatest challenge. All the concerns I have for
my little one are not unusual I am sure, but I am
already missing her! Oh, the love of a mother!

I am concerned about all her "what ifs" and all she
is worried about is that they will not have the
kind of snacks she likes!!! What if, what it,
what if?

Deborah
Team Leader, business Coach, but most importantly
MOM!

http://www.choosemiabella.com/

Fear

Fear! What fear do you have that is holding you
back from becoming your best? Are you not excelling
in your job, your home based business, or your education
because of a FEAR??

As I am writing this entry, I am watching my 5
year old trying to accomplish a goal. She is
attempting to "climb" her way out of something.
I have offered my assistance several times the
past 20 minutes, but her reply: "I can do it."
So, for that reason and the lesson I hope she is
learning, I will sit here, patiently watching her
accomplish that task. Could I help her?
Absolutely...and her "goal" could have been
completed 20 minutes ago. But, it would not
mean near the same as HER ACCOMPLISHING
IT HERSELF!

Also, as I look her in eyes, I see that one "goal
stopper" - - I see fear! I am sitting here being
her cheerleader - telling her that she can do it.
But at the same time, I see the doubt in her eyes
and the wheels turning in her head and they are
saying, "What happens if I do not make it"???
She has asked me at least 5 times, "Do you think
I will make it, mom?" "Yes! Sure you can, you
are almost there", is my reply!

As I look at her, I thinking of how she has changed
over the past five years. Do you know that 2 years
ago, she would have jumped right out, not thinking
twice! Oh, the faith of a child. But as she has
"grown up" a little, she has obtained what we all have
learned, fear! She has seen a few more falls, bumps
and bruises, so "fear" has now set in a little more than
2 years ago. Yet, on the other hand, my one year old
would have jumped without thinking twice this morning
because she has yet to learn the extent of her "fears".

So, what is my challenge to you? Yes, there is a
healthy sense of fear, but is that FEAR holding you
back from being your best? Are you afraid of failure?
Are you afraid of not meeting that goal? What are
you scared of? Move on.....have more of the faith
of a child, and reach that goal!

Here were are, 25 minutes later, and my 5 year old
just reached her goal! With some cheers from mom,
some self confidence and reassurance that SHE COULD
DO IT....it is done, and we are enjoying the victory!

Way to go, little girl! Mommy is proud of you! Once she
overcame her fear, she was there!!

Release and reach the top!

Deborah
http://www.choosemiabella.com/

The Economy and your home based business

Here it is July 2008! Whether or not you are reading
this entry in 2008 or you are just finding it years from
now - you will definitely remember this time in our
economy!

This is the time that we saw gas push OVER $4.00 a
gallon, milk selling at over $6.00, food prices
going through the roof, and many other elevations and
changes that could keep this list going for quite some time!
Not to mention, all the changes in industry and daily
remembrances of job losses.

All of that to say this - Are you ready to start a home
based business? I sure hope so! And you are probably
thinking, "What?" That's right! I believe NOW is the
best time to start your home based business, or
to stick with that business! If you have been pondering
the thought of starting or giving up, I strongly encourage
you to think it through!

With lay offs, an uncertain job market, rising
cost of work expenses....YOU NEED THAT HOME
BASED BUSINESS! You need that "back up plan"
may I say! I talk with many people all over the
country that just lost their jobs, are about to lose a
job, or are not sure what will happen with their
job in the next 6 months. I even have some tell me
that with the rise in daycare, gas, clothing and food,
IT IS COSTING THEM TO WORK! These individuals
are MOST interested in starting a home based business.
Many of them wish they had done so sooner! Had they
started 6 months ago, they would have had that "backup
plan" when they were handed the "we don't need your
assistance any longer" letter at work!

Is the timing right? Absolutely!! Can you believe that
I have seen my home based business triple this
year? That's right! With gas prices rocketing
everyday, milk costing all most as much as the cow
.......my business is thriving!

I would be honored to help you in anyway that
I can to start that home based business.
Do I believe you can do it? Absolutley!
Remember the saying, "Where there's a will,
there's a way! How badly do you want to be home
with your kids? How badly do you want financial
freedom? How badly do you want to be your own
boss? I think you get the idea! Lay doubts aside
and see how YOU can accomplish the dreams and
goals that are deep inside of you!

When should you start that home based business?
When the economy looks doubtful - NOW!

Deborah
www.choosemiabella.com
www.miabellacandleopportunity.com

Classical Music and your kids!

Classical Music and your kids!

Okay, so maybe you are not a lover of Classical Music,
but I want to encourage you to think again!

Do you have small children? Grandchildren? Or are
you a student? What do all these things have in
common? All three are building their brain development
on a continual basis.

Do you remember the many changes your baby made the
first year of life? Everytime you turned around, they
had learned something new or were saying that new
word. I have a one year old, so this is still reality for me!

It is proven that brain development is critically
important during those early years. Did you know
that research proves that students who listen to
10 minutes of Mozart are very likely to see an
increase in their IQ scores? Why is that? Classical Music
is organized and thus it encourages brain development in
a very orderly fashion.

From the moment my children were born, I have exposed
them to Classical Music. I do not say the following just because
she is my daughter, but my 4 year old acts and communicates on
a level far above her current age. At 4 years old, she is reading,
writing, knows all 43 Presidents, knows the states, can
communicate on a very mature level, does gymnastics,
has a lovely voice, and so on. I am not saying that
Classical Music is the only reason why she is so intelligent
for her age, for I have read to her, spent numerous
hours teaching her, but I do believe the Classical Music
has played a big part! Oh, yes, not to mention that she
could sing the entire National Athem at 24 months!

Okay, maybe you are more of the rock or jazz type.
I strongly encourage you not to let this be the main
source of music that your children listen to. For the most
part, this type of music is not very structured. It will do
absolutely nothing for their development. Classical Music
IS proven to encourange development. Looking for a
"neat" way to introduce your kids to Classical Music?
Try the Brainy Baby or the Baby Einstein dvd series.

You probably think I am just saying all this as an opinion.
not that this matters much, but I do hold a Master's Degree
in Music, so I have seen this all FIRST HAND!

Hey, don't just try it with your kids, try it with yourself!
Need a calmer atmosphere in your home? Grab the CD
player and try some Mozart.

Deborah Kemp
http://www.choosemiabella.com/

Excuses

Excuses!

Wow - what a thought! When is the last time we made an excuse?
Well, we probably would not have to think about it very long to
remember that last event. Maybe it was an hour ago!

Today, I want to focus on making excuses for not working your home
based business.

Let me introduce you to two different people.

First, let's meet, "Suzy #1"

Suzy 1 has a family, cleans, does laundry, is involved in community
service, runs kids to various activities, takes care of a sick parent,
is involved in her church, takes care of the family finances, and
has a static home based business.

Suzy 2 also has a family, cleans, does laundry, is involved in
community service, runs kids to various activities, takes care
of a sick parent, is involved in her church, takes care of the
family finances, and has a thriving home based business.

Here are two different women who do the exact same things.
One is striving in her home based business while the other
is not. What is the difference? Probably excuses as well
as a mindset. Yes, I stay very busy, but I have also had to
"refocus" as I find myself making excuses for not working
my home based business.

My greatest month so far for my business was a January.
I jumped into the new year and went full force! Can I do that
every month? Absolutely! Can you be successful at your
home based business? SURE! I encourage you to avoid
making excuses and start putting YOUR goals into action.

Recently, my 4 year old heard the phrase "stretching the truth".
She asked me what that meant. I went into my lengthy
explanation. Yet, later the thought came to my mind...is
stretching the truth also making excuses? Yes, it can be!
Have you ever "stretched the truth" while making an excuse?
Many times, that excuse is not as accurate as it may seem.

My challenge to ALL of us, work that home based business.
Sure, some people just go at it harder and can go places in 5
months that may take others 3 years, but I am sure we can
ALL do better than our present state. Okay, here is my personal
challenge - I am not going to make any more excuses for
working my home based business. It will not hurt me to get up
1 hour earlier. Actually, I get some of my best work done for my
home based business at the early hours of the morning. I can get
a days work done in a very short amount of time, when I wake
early! I am thrilled with the way my business has grown, but it
could grow even faster, if I do not find "excuses"!

Deborah
http://www.choosemiabella.com/

Father's

Father's Day is just 9 days away. I have been busy buying gifts,
writing cards and getting everything just as perfect as I can
for that day.

My little girls have their cards ready to sign for dad, they have
mailed Grandpa his card and gift (McDonald's gift certificates - what
do you think? Well, to them it is EXACTLY what Grandpa would
want! Or, do you think they are hoping he will save them for
when they are all together so they get a trip to the Golden Arch?
I'm with you...I vote for the 2nd choice! ), and have made their trip
to the photographer for their annual Father's Day pictures.
That event was a little harder this year than last! My 4 year
old was in all her glory, but my one year old decided from the
second we stepped into the studio that she was not going to
like this idea!

When you say the word "Dad", what comes to your mind? Is it
a family trip, a special day or a fond memory? As I think back
to my childhood, I think of a man that always gave of himself
for his family. Dad never needed anything....well, at least he
said he did not. He was always there for us! Whenever asked
what he wanted for Father's Day, Christmas or his birthday
he always replied, "brown socks"! Why did it take me so many
years to realize that dad really did not need brown socks, he
just did not want me to spend a lot of money on him. If you
were to look at his sock drawer, IT IS JAMMED PACKED
with brown, black, tan and blue socks.

I hope your memories are as wonderful as mine. If not, then
decide TODAY to be the parent, grandparent or family member that
you should be for those you love! You know, it only takes a
minute to show someone you care. That one minute you
took for someone could bring a lifetime of happiness each time
they hear the mention of your name.

So, as Father's Day approaches, take the time to show love to
those that have always showed love to you. I have my dad's
gift in the mail, and guess what......IT IS NOT BROWN SOCKS -
for he deserves a lot more, and he should have always had more in
the first place.

Deborah
http://www.choosemiabella.com/

Simple Things in Life

Have you ever just stopped and observed a child?
Those of you that are parents or teachers can
reply with a resounding YES!! But, have you
REALLY observed a child?

I have two precious children and I consider myself
to be the most blessed person in the world to have
them in my life! Many times at nights when they
are in bed, I just sit and reflect over the day and
the many joys they brought my way!

What in our day to day routine has stolen our "simple
pleasures in life"? I am sure just the many
things that keep us occupied on a daily basis has
stunted our joy in simple things.

Today, I observed the long period of joy that one
simple balloon brought my 1 year old. She forgot
that she was tired, that she was hungry, that she
was....everything for that period of time!

Today, I also observed the hours and hours of joy
that a new puppy brought my 4 year old. That
was her birthday wish...a new little friend. To be
honest with you, I have never been much of an
"animal" type of person, but to see the excitement
and joy on her face, it even made me like the little
guy!

Step back in time......to those childhood days when the
simpliest things made you happy...and for days! We
all could use more of that, don't you think? Purpose
today to be excited about that new friend you met at
work, that new dish you made for dinner, that new
idea you had for your family or home based business.
Look for the simple things that make life grand!
I promise you, it will reduce a lot of the normal stress
that use to fill your days!

Wishing you a day FULL of "simple things!!"

Deborah
www.choosemiabella.com

I thanked a Soldier today!

I thanked a Soldier today!

Have you ever said "thank you" to a soldier that you saw in a store,
a restaurant or at an airport? I know that I have passed by
100's of soldiers in my lifetime, and to my shame, I never once have
stopped to thank them for what they have done for our Country
and for MY freedom, until today!

The past few months, I have been teaching my 4 year old
about the many sacrifices that soldiers make for us on a
daily basis. She could not imagine that they were often
not home with their families for Christmas!! (that is a
big family event for us!) She was also concerned that they
often do not get much sleep.

I have told her that when we see a soldier, we should thank
them for what they do for us! Well, while we were out today,
we stopped for a bite to eat. I could tell that something had
caught my 4 year old's eye. She finally whispered to me,
"Mommy, there are some soldiers". I turned around to see
them and told her that "yes" she was right! She continued to ask
questions about them. She was not going to be content until
we went over and thanked them for what they do for us. I must say,
to my shame, I really did not want to go over there, not because
I did not want to thank them, but because I did not want to
disturb their lunch. But, I knew I had to, because that has been
something I have been telling her that we should do! So, there we
went - hand in hand to thank the soldiers.

As we approached their table, I said "Excuse me. I am sorry to
bother you." As soon as I opened my mouth, I saw 2 Marines
quickly jump to their feet. I was touched by their politness.
I told them why we were there - that I had been teaching my
daughter about solders and what they do for us. I also mentioned
to them that I have been teaching her that she needs to thank them
for the many sacrifices they make. I could tell that they were almost
speechless - like they were not use to being thanked!

I saw these fine soldiers throw out their hands to shake the hand
of the proudest 4 year old in the world! One then said, "Can I have
a hug?" I thought he would just reach down to hug her, but he
grabbed her in his arms and lifted her all the way up!

I walked away with the happiest child in the restaurant and a heart
full of shame for having not done this sooner. But you know what,
I think we too left behind a couple happy Marines, for we showed our
appreciation to them. I told my daughter that I bet we were the
only ones that did thank them the entire day. How sad!

How hard is it to thank someone for the sacrifices they make
day in and day out so that we can have our freedom? It is very
simple...and should be a necessity. How appropriate that
today was Memorial Day!

I am writing this shortly after I tucked my 4 year old in for the
night. Do you know what she wanted to tell her daddy as
he was kissing her goodnight? This is what she said: "Daddy,
there were two Marine soldiers and they shook my hand. The
one wanted to hug me. Mommy thought he would just reach
down to hug me, but he picked me all the way up!" Then
she said to me, "Mommy, did that really happen today, or
was I just dreaming?" "No, honey you were not dreaming, it
really did happen!" Then she fell asleep, with a smile on her
face....for she thanked a Soldier today!

Deborah
http://www.choosemiabella.com/

Looking for a Home Based Business

First of all, should you look for a home based business....
YES!!

Why am I so definite about that? Think about
it. Are times changing? YES! Is the economy
changing? YES! Is Corporate America changing?
YES! Are prices changing? YES! By all means, you
need a second form of income....and then you need to
be able to make that second form your full time income.

As a home based business coach, I talk to people daily!
Many tell me that they just got laid off, are needing
more time at home, are tired of the 6 am - 6 pm shifts.
What do they all have in common? The need for a
home based business.

Well you may be thinking, I don't have time for a home
based business. My reply, you don't have time NOT
to have one.

So, maybe I have the wheels turning for you just a little.
You are scared of another non-legitimate business, right?
Yes, there are many scams out there. Let me give you a
few tips on finding what is right for YOU!

Find an opportunity that:

1. Does NOT require a large start up.

2. Does NOT require sales quotas. You do not need the
stress of losing your status if you miss a % one month.

3. Does NOT require a LARGE fee each month to
continue.

4. Has excellent resources and training.

5. Has integrity and honesty at the core.

6. Does NOT have hidden monthly fees.

7. Has a great compensation plan - if doing MLM

8. Has a good standing with the BBB.

9. Is something YOU like and enjoy - you want it to
be fun and enjoyable too!

10. Gives you the opportunity to make suggestions
and to be heard!

Remember, there ARE such opportunities out there.
If it sounds too good to be true (like: make $5,000.00 an
hour, then it probably is too good to be true!)

Does a home based business take time and effort!
Absolutely! Do not go into a business thinking they will
do all the work for you! You need to take pride in YOUR
business...after all...it is YOURS!

As a business coach, I always tell prospective thinkers that
I truly want what is best for them. You will not see me
twisiting someone's arm to join my team. Would I be glad to
have them? I would consider it a great honor to be their
sponsor, but I also want them to be happy with their
decision. After all, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY!
I will treat all business partners the way I would want to
be treated.....and I mean that!

Find that home based business! It could change your life!
It is most definitely worth looking into. Remember,
search for honesty and integrity - they will both be key players
down the line!

Deborah
Team Leader and Business Coach
www.choosemiabella.com

Don't give up!

Are you about to quit?

WOW! What a rather direct question. If so, what
is it that you are contemplating putting an end
to? Is it a diet? KEEP IT UP! Is it a home
based business? KEEP IT UP! Is is a project?
KEEP IT UP! Is it a home improvement? KEEP IT UP!

Okay, I think you get the idea! I am not a quitter!
Let's look at each of the above. I remember after
the birth of my children, I had a goal...and I was
going to make it! I was not going to let extra pounds
gained during pregnancy stick around as a souvenir
of the past 9 months. I did not look at this goal as a
challenge! I saw it IN ADVANCE as a trophy!
It felt great each time I put on that pre-pregnancy
outfit...and it fit!! It was worth each chocolate chip
cookie I passed up!

I remember last summer taking on the very difficult
task of laying the kitchen floor, all by myself! We have
a large kitchen...and it even seemed much larger at the
time! I remember halfway through, and probably
about 2 AM, that I wished I had never taken on the
job. Although, everyday I look at my new floor and
cannot imagine why I did not do it 2 years ago! Isn't
it funny how "thoughts" change AFTER the fact?

What about a home based business? Yes, there
are bumps along the way, but what are you
made of? If I had quit each time I hit a bump in
my business, I would have been done a long time
ago. Just like the kitchen floor, I wake up everyday
so thankful that I "stuck" with my home based
business. The benefits have been MUCH greater
than any "bump" in the road along the way!

So, what is it today that is causing you to want
to quit? Do not see it as an obstacle, see the end
product - even though it is through a foggy glass
right now!

HANG IN THERE!! You'll be glad you did! It is
often not the situation that needs to change, as
humbling as it may seem....if is often WE that need the
changing!

Deborah
http://www.choosemiabella.com/

Goals

What is it that makes a person "go above and beyond"?
What is it that makes an athlete drain himself of all
physical energy day after day? What is it that makes
a person give until there is is nothing else to give? It
is because of and for a GOAL!

What are your goals? Are they filled with vision? Are
they limited? Are they motivated? Are they shallow?
Are they filled with drive and dtermination? These are
questions that only YOU as an individual can answer.

I challenge each of you to maximize your goals. What do I
mean? Be the person that "goes above and beyond." Maybe
you have had some shallow goals - raise the bar! Maybe
you have doubted yourself - increase your confidence. Maybe
you have been scared of failure - do not let past situations
hinder your abilities to "go above and beyond".

You know, often the greatest things develop because of past
failures. After all, failure is experience!! You have not
failed at something...you have gained experience. Be brave!
Determine to accomplish your goals, even if you "trip"
a couple times along the way!

Before becoming a work at home mom, I was a teacher.
I trained future teachers on the college level. I also was a
Music teacher. With the teaching of both Music and Education,
my students were always in the lime light! Many handled
it with ease, yet the rest would have rather been 6 foot under
than to stand in front of their peers.

What was the common mindset of both groups of students?
They were scared of messing up! You know what I would often say
to them: "the best thing that could happen to you IS TO MESS
UP!" WOW - not what you would expect to hear from the mouth
of a teacher, right? Why did I say that? Because I knew that
IF they messed up, and tried it again, they would quickly see
that there IS life after "failures". I also wanted them to see that
IF you mess up and try again, you normally will do better the
second time, and the third time, and....you get the picture.

If Eddison had "quit", you'd be sitting reading this entry in the
dark ! If YOU had quit, your family would be_________ - you
fill in the blank. Okay, so it is hard to fail, sure it is, but it is even
harder to not have a goal. If you don't have a goal, you for sure
will not reach it!

So, what are your goals? Are you ready to raise the bar? I sure
am! I have a vision, and I will work diligently to see the light,
even if at the end of the tunnel!

Deborah
www.choosemiabella.com

Mothers

As I sit here on the eve of Mother's Day, I have many
thoughts racing through my mind. I have the fondest
memories of a loving, giving mother, but I also
stop to reflect on the two little people that now
call ME mom.

Nothing will change a person like the day they lay
that beautiful child in your arms. That child you
carried for 9 months. All those 270 +/- days you spent
planning, dreaming and loving that soon to be gift in
your home. You go from being a person, to the most
needed person in the world. Maybe you adopted a
child, well your feelings are just the same, I am sure.
You are giving a child a chance in life. I admire you
tremendously!

Five years ago, (that's hard to believe..where does
time go?) when they laid that precious little girl in my
arms, I remember the thoughts I had. Will I be everything
she needs? Will I be able to meet all her needs? How will
I be the best mom I can be? As I look back over the past
five years, I can say, YES!! I am able to be what she needs.
I am able to meet her needs. And as humbling as it is, she
tells me that I am the best mom in the world!

As mothers, we have such an amazing influence on our
children. The other day, I was watching the way my five
year old acts with my 1 year old. She is like a mother hen.
She is protective, loving, caring...and not one ounce of
jealousy! She always brings something home to baby sister.
She can be given a "treat", and she will save half for
her "little friend".

Why is she so loving and nuturing of our baby? I can
honestly say that I feel as comfortable with my 5 year old
in a room with my youngest as I would if there was
an adult in the room. Of course, I do not leave them alone,
but I feel she is as good a caregiveer as there is! You do have
to understand that my 5 year old acts...and sometimes I think
she really is...as mature as a 12 year old! Not to brag on myself,
but from the first day our baby was home, I told my oldest
that her baby sister would always be her best friend, that she
would have to look out for her, and that baby sister needed her.
I planted a seed, that is growing like crazy! Does it bother me
when my 5 year old says, "Mom I love sissy more than I love you".
Absolutely not!! I want them to always be close and each other's
best friends. She loves me as her mom - and sissy as her best friend!

I look back on my childhood and once again I think..and know....I
had the world's greatest mom! She was always there! (that is
another reason why I encourage you moms to work from
home!) She is the most giving person in the world! Many times
mom gave when was difficult, I am sure! You know, I never heard
my mom say she didn't have money. Even though, I am sure
there were many times she did not! She did not want to bring
extra worries to us! Mom always said she did not like
steak. Did she? Sure she did, but she wanted us to have it instead.
She never liked that last piece of pie! Now I know that she did,
but she was saving it for us! The same reason why she always
"liked" the generic products better...so WE could have the brand
name! It's all in the word "MOM", isn't it?? When I think of that
word - I think of: love, selflessness, compassion, giving,
nurturing......MY MOM!

You know, the same thing is true today. When I sit to eat something
and I hear those little feet walking in the room, and a big gasp of
surprise in her voice that says, "Mom, that looks so good". What are
the first words out of my mouth? "Here, take it! I would love for
you to have it!" After all, leave off the "M" in Mother and what do
you have?...."Others"!

I love you, Mom! It is an honor to be your daughter! I love you
girls! It is the greatest honor in the world to be called YOUR MOM!

Febrile Seizures

What is a Febrile Seizures anyway? Well, I hope you will only have to
read the definition and not experience it first hand. What did I know
about them until last week...Nothing!

Sunday morning was just a normal Sunday in our house! Our 16th
month old woke with a small fever. When I say small, I mean like
100.5. I did the normal things, gave her a fever reducer and liquids.
She was fine and on her way to "mess up the house!"

With a touch of the hand, it was obvious that the fever was headed
up. She had gone from 100 degrees to 104 in the shortest amount
of time. I called the Doctor on call as my husband put her in a tub
of lukewarm water. All was well, and the fever dropped 3 degrees
in seconds. She was playing again....and then it happend! She went
limp, her eyes rolled back in her head, her breathing became very
slow and she started to drull at the mouth. 911 was called as our
daughter would not respond. A five minute seizure seemed like days!

The ambulance arrived and took our baby (along with the rest of us)
to Sacred Heart Children's Hospital. I commend them for their great
efforts to keep our baby allert and well monitored. Several tests were
done to delcare it was viral infection.

Her fever was high for several days. When I say high, I mean 105.5.
We are still fighting the viral infection with all the likely symptoms.
Will this happen again? We do not know. We are told that there is
a 50% chance of it doing so. Why am I writing this in my blog? To help
YOU! I want you to be aware of what to do. I am so thankful that
my husband is a RPH (Registered Pharmacist). His training played
a vital role in this situation.

What are the affects on our little girl? The doctors say she
will have a 100% recovery! We are so blessed! Here are some
things to make note of:

1. Children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years old are the
most likely victims of febrile seizures. It is because their brains
are still in the developing stages. It can happen with a temp as
low as 100 - 101, but it may occur when it is even more elevated.
Our little girls' was at 101 when it happened.

2. They are 30 - 50% likely to have one again if they are suffered
from a previous seizure.

3. If one child in a family has one, it is more likely for the other
children to experience a seizure.

4. KEEP A LEVEL HEAD!! DO NOT give your child additional
medicine while a seizure is happening. Lay them either on their
side or on their stomach. (they will often vomit) Do not put them
in the tub. Keep a very acurate record of how long the seizure
lasts and what exactly happens. They can last a couple minutes
or even up to 10 -15 minutes. The main thing is to watch their
breathing. The breathing WILL CHANGE, but watch for the signs
of no breathing at all and the changing of body color. DO NOT
DO TOO MUCH! If you do, you may cause even greater harm to
your child.

5. The good news is that most children do not suffer damage or
death due to a febrile seizure. It is the body's way of reacting to
the change in temperature. We called 911 as this was the first time
we expereinced this with either child. Regardless of what you
decide to do, DO HAVE YOUR CHILD CHECKED OUT either
at the office or the Emergency Room. There is a reason that the
temp is up. All tests came back negative for our daughter, so it
was ruled viral.

6. BE ALERT! I will always have mortin and a themometor in my
purse. The doctor told us that regardless of what a parent does,
the seizure WILL happen if it is going to happen! You cannot
prevent it. If your child is in the care of someone else, make them
aware of the past seizure and tell them to contact you ASAP!

7. Brush up on your CPR!!

8. LOVE your children every day! We are so blessed to have them!

Deborah

I have that written down!

How important is it to write something down? After watching this clip today, I have a whole new view on this topic!! I encourage everyone to watch this short clip. (the link to this clip is at the bottom of the entry)

You know, most of you will probably walk away with the thought - what we think we are makes a huge difference in what we become. What a nugget of truth!

Yet, I walked away with a different approach. It may seem simple to most of you, but a profound thought! Jim mentioned that Walt Disney wrote things down...literally with pen and paper! Walt took notes on how he wanted his dreams to be built. He watched others and learned from their good points and their not so positive actions. Seems simple, doesn't it? How many times have you said to yourself "I need to make a mental note of this." What happend to that mental note? You probably forget it, as do I!

I personally know a man who has been responsible for building MANY multi-million dollar buildings. You know what you can see him do SEVERAL times on any given day? He is bringing out that small piece of paper and that pen from his pocket and making notes. This way, HE WILL NOT FORGET! I have heard him say he does that for two reasons:

1. To have some concrete notes to look over at the end of everyday
2. To be able to think of something, write it down and then forget about it until he needs that information again! This way, he does not have to dwell on it all day long, trying to remember how it went...it is written down!

Is he such a success only because he writes things down, absolutley not! BUT, the fact does remain, he won't foget it....it is written down! You will not find a cleaner more organized location!
Wonder if part of that is because he constantly took notes EVERYWHERE he went on how to and how NOT to do things??

So, I challenge each of you to makes notes of what you hear! How many times have you found an old note or saying that you had written down and were so inspired when you found it once again? Maybe just using the "old pen and paper" or saving thoughts on a hard drive, either way... YOU HAVE IT!

Is it written down?

Deborah Kemp
www.choosemiabella.com

http://members.masterytv.com/kickapps/_Take-5-Jim-Cathcart/video/183272/1390.html

It's time to clean out the closet!

It's time to "clean out the closet"!

What do I mean? Well, this weekend, my four year old and I took on the task of cleaning out her closet.

WOW! It was like Christmas morning for her! She began playing with toys she forgot she had, rediscovered her"favorites", and even found a couple things we did not know she had! We turned an endless task into a fun afternoon! We took the time to stop and reflect...and just plain enjoy!

As I took on this challenge, I thought of how it compared to my business. Maybe it is time to "clean out the closet" of my business by bringing back some things I use to do, organizing my thoughts, or just plain finding new things that I never saw or ever tried before. Maybe my business could use some rediscovering, new finds and more enjoyment.

Taking on such a task may seem time consuming, but make it enjoyable! As I look at my daughter's closet, I do not stop to think of all the time we spent organizing it, instead I see a lovely, inviting atmosphere - colorful and definitely a place for everything.

Think of your business that way! Do not stunt advancement by seeing all the time it will take to get there. Instead, think of the end results. With this mindset you can take the challenge on with great ease and find fullfillment in each move you make!

Is it time to clean out the closet?

Deborah Kemp
www.choosemiabella.com

Budgeting my time

I heard a qoute last night:

"Time is what we want the most of, but it is what we WASTE the most of" (Author unknown)

WOW! How true! You know the old saying: "If you want something done, ask the busiest man in town to do it for you." Why? Because he has learned the ever important lesson of budgeting his time wisely!

This applies to all areas of our lives, not just our businesses! I personally notice on days that I get up a little earlier (even though I already am an early riser)I accomplish so much more that day. Seems to make sense, doesn't it? Yet, I do not think it is just the fact that my alarm goes off 30 minutes earlier, I think it is a mindset!

Also, I notice on days that I exercise, I accomplish twice as much! I organize more, clean more, make more businesscalls -- just get more things accomplished and feel great about it! I feel well physically, so I tackle more tasks with ease!

How are we using our time?

Deborah Kemp
www.choosemiabella.com

To work at home or to work outside of the home

Should I work at home...or should I work outside of the home? This is a question that has crossed the mind of all mothers! In deciding what avenue is best for you, you must ask yourself many questions. I worked outside of the home for many years. I taught on the College level and had a nice job! We decided that our family needed mom home, at least for now! With two small children, a husband with a very demanding, professional job.....we came to the conclusion that mom could be used more at the house.

I will never forget the day my four year old looked at me and said, "Mom, why did you not stay home with me when I was a baby? Is it because I did not understand?" The question caught me off guard. I do no even remember how I answered her, but I do know I let her know it was not because she did not understand.
Our children are only little for such a small period of time! I will forever be thankful that I have been here with them and for them!

You may say, "Well, I will miss out on not having adult conversation!" That has NEVER crossed my mind. You may say, "Well, my children will miss out on being around other children." That problem has not exsisted here! Here is our weekly routine:

I teach my 4 year old every morning (she is reading and writing at 4, doing math, knows the names of the first 22 Presidents, knows many of the states...and the list goes on!), we go to reading circles at the library one day a week, she is in a structured gymnastic team each week, she is in an organized church children's club, she has play dates with friends..and on and on! As she is participating in each of these events...guess what mom is doing...... talking to other moms! So, I have no lack of adult conversation and my child has PLENTY of fellowship with her friends. I also am building a VERY successful business while I am home with my kids, so I have daily contact with the members of my team! I have met some amazing people all over the country!

This time has also been an amazing bonding time for the two kids! Big sister is "mother hen" and little sister idolizes the ground that big sister walks on! These days will never be here again!

Consider all that you pay for gas to go to work, the large daycare bill, lunches, new clothes...is it costing you to work outside the home? Where can you cut back to make it happen? So, you won't be able to buy as many new clothes, we probably don't need them anyway! (Actually, I am pretty happy that I can still wear that size 6 that I did before I got pregnant!)

I truly want what is best for you and your family, but if at all possible, stay with your kids! I have NEVER talked to a mom that stays home who regrets it! Take this approach. When your kids go to school, you can go back too. Find a job at a local school, be a teacher's aid, or return to teaching! When your kids are off, so are you. And the summers...everyone will be home!

So, next time I hear my child say, "Mom, why did you not stay home with me when I was a baby. Is it because I did not understand?" The answer will immediately fly from my lips, "No, Sweetie, it is because MOM did not understand!"

Feel free to contact me! I'd love to help you stay home with your kids! I have found a way!

Deborah
deborah@choosemiabella.com
www.choosemiabella.com
